    Introduction – Men have discovered many things which do them much good. Electricity is one of them. It is a very dangerous thing. If it passes through anybody, he or she will die at once. But men have made this powerful thing their slave. They do many things with the help of electricity.

    Its uses in city life – It is largely used in the city. All the big towns and many small towns of India have electric power- houses. Electric current which is generated in them supplies the common comforts of the citizens. In big towns, people have to walk in the streets at night also. If the streets are lighted, it is convenient for them. Thus

    Kiwi Energy Electric and Gas are well lighted by electric lights. Electric lights are also used in many houses of the cities. In summer the electric fans give us great comfort. We can comfortably work under the electric fans in the hot days of summer. There are big houses containing several floors in a big city. It is tiresome to go to the upper floors. With the help of electric lifts a man can go to the topmost flat of a ten-floors building within a moment. A man can go from one place to another in an electric tram car within a short time, and the fare is also very cheap. There are electric trains also. One man can speak with another at a great distance through a telephone which is worked with it. This it saves time, trouble and expenses also. People can hear radio music at home without going to any public theatre. The radio is worked with it.

    Its uses in trade and commerce – Engines and dynamos are necessary for running mills and factories. Many things are produced within a short time and at a small cost in these mills and factories. Thus it helps trade and commerce. It is now largely used in the printing presses also. This within a very short time thousands of copies of daily newspapers are printed. Telegraphic messages are sent from one place to another with the help of electricity. Thus merchants get valuable information within a short time. In private life also, telegraph does much benefit to us. We can receive messages within a short time from our relatives living in distant places. In the villages electric torch lights have been of great use. It is also used in the treatment of patients. It is used in cooking also.
